First visits to a new dentist can always be a bit nerve-wracking. At Pike & Valega, DDS, we understand that you might be a little anxious about your first appointment with us.

At your first appointment with us, we will gather all the information needed to help create a customized treatment plan that meets your unique needs.

You can expect us to do the following things during your first visit to our dental office:

• Gather a complete health and dental history – We ask you to fill out health/dental forms before your first appointment, but we will review the information with you and may ask additional questions.
• Take any necessary X-rays – We use digital X-rays at Pike & Valega, DDS. The X-rays we take will vary depending upon your situation.
• Conduct an oral cancer screening – We conduct oral cancer screenings at every regularly scheduled dental exam.
• Conduct a full comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums and mouth – We are looking for any visible signs of dental problems.
• Take digital images, impressions or models for future treatment
• Discuss your smile goals – We want to know what you like and dislike about your smile and if there is anything you would like to change.
• Discuss any dental issues you are experiencing, such as pain, tooth sensitivity or bleeding gums.

After collecting all the necessary information, we will sit down and discuss your treatment options. It is our goal to provide you with all the information you need to make a well-informed decision. In addition to exploring your treatment options, we will also provide you with a detailed, itemized account of all potential costs of treatment, such as copays, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses. We can also discuss possible financing options with you.
